Million dollars and 4 Million cubic yards of material moved in record
time. DIXIE has the great privilege of being one of the first contractors
to complete one of the very beginning phases of what will ultimately
represent a $2.445 Billion dollar, 2,200 acre Inter County Connector

has the distinction of being the first contractor in to grade and
excavate a 450 acre site that will ultimately represent the center
of commerce to this enormous project and its current and future
residents.
The scope of work for DIXIES phase consisted of taking a 450 acre
depleted mining pit and grading it in it’s entirety to drain
into four enormous storm water management ponds that DIXIE created
to control storm water run off. The amount of material moved in
the creation of the ponds alone amounted to about 632,000 cubic
yards of material. From the outset DIXIE had to install over a half
mile of 78” cement storm water pipe just to divert the existing
water flow. A large section of steel pipe was also installed to
handle future requirements for the business community that will
ultimately come to exist at this location.

Working
around the clock for six straight months DIXIE moved 4 million
cubic yards of material. Had between 60 to 70 operators on two
shifts and kept over 40 pieces of heavy equipment serviced day
and night and in constant motion. Completed ahead of schedule,
DIXIE received high praise for their commitment and dedication
to completing the work safely and efficiently. Just another day
